Just What is a giclee?
A giclee is a high quality, near-perfect reproduction of a piece of art. They are the most beautiful and accurate art reproductions that have ever been made, using archival inks, paper and canvas. The original artwork is scanned with a high resolution digital scanner into a computer, where careful adjustments are made for color correction to the printer. It is then proofed by the artist, when approved, it is printed on a large ink-jet printer. These modern high tech printers are capable of producing incredibly detailed prints, (see printer photo below). The costs associated with this type of reproduction are higher for the artist than other methods which is reflected in the cost of the giclee.
How do I care for my giclee?
As with any piece of high quality fine art, keep gicless out of direct sunlight, heat and humidity. The giclee has been treated with a light protectivie coat, that is sprayed on, allowing you to dust very lightly with a soft cloth. Like any fine art print handle with care
to avoid damage.
What will I get?
You will be buying a giclee printed on canvas, which is meant to be stretched on stretcher-bars, and framed with a frame only, just like the original oil painting with no glass. All of Gayle's paintings are her original art work, oil on canvas.
